Sri Lanka Tour Pakistan for Final T20?
With the reports so far coming out, it is actually difficult to tell that whether the Lankan Tigers will be touring Pakistani this month or not. The reports so far suggest that Sri Lankan Cricket Board has given a green signal for the T20 match in Lahore, but at the same time, a reliable report suggests that none of the Sri Lankan cricketers in the squad has agreed to tour Pakistan.
It will be pertinent to mention here that a reports suggests that Sri Lanka’s squad currently playing ODI series against the hosts has extended a formal letter to the board and management to change the venue of the last T20, which is scheduled to be held in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, later this month.
It should be kept noted here that Sri Lankan players haven’t gone for a refusal straightaway against the cricket board’s decision; actually, they have written a formal letter through which they have requested Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to change the venue of the final T20.
An SLC source told Cricbuzz about this move taken by Sri Lankan players, “SLC will have a quick chat with the players very soon. We don’t intend to disturb them in middle of a series, but we are left with no option but to address the issue. The ICC also will meet the players on Saturday to brief them about the situation in Lahore.”
World XI’s Tour to Pakistan
It should be kept noted here that last month World XI toured Pakistan for a 3-match T20 series named as ‘Independence Cup’ and the security arrangements along with the situation around were said to be favorable for cricket by the top international cricketers, who were part of the tour.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera was also part of the World XI, which played 3-Match T20 series in Lahore, Pakistan.
Conclusion
With the current situation where Sri Lankan Board and players seem to have difference of opinions, it is likely that Sri Lanka will be touring Pakistan, after ICC officials will brief about the A-class security arrangements in Lahore for the T20 match.
